Bible Study Tips (FALL EDITION)
8 tips👇🍁🍂
🤎 1. HAVE A PLAN.
Plan to show up, and pick a time of day that you will commit to.
Find a Bible reading plan, and stick to it!
🤎 2. PICK A PLACE.
Pick a place where you want to meet with God. It can be a prayer closet, a patio or a porch. It can be a library, a coffee shop, a park bench or even the driver’s seat of your car. Picking a place will help you be consistent and help make this a habit. Bonus points if you get to incorporate seeing the leaves changing and the smell of crisp fall air 😍
🤎 3. SAY PEACE TO PERFECTION.
Perfection is a trap. Progress > perfection. Give yourself grace if you mess up, but don’t quit! Something is better than nothing. Choose to embrace the journey, instead of being so obsessed with the destination.
🤎 4. MAKE PRAYER A PRIORITY.
Write down Scriptures pertaining to what you’re going through right now, and write them on notecards. Place them around your home/car/workspace, and watch how they become more familiar to you.
🤎 5. GET REAL WITH GOD.
Seasons change, and so do relationships, circumstances, emotions, plans, etc. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says that there is a time for everything. Let’s embrace that. Lean into the seasons changing outside and in your own life, invite God into the mess of it.
🤎 6. MAKE IT AESTHETIC/SOMETHING YOU LOOK FORWARD TO.
I don’t know about you, but I loveeee a good aesthetic. I know it isn’t the most important thing, but it really helps to create something you enjoy and look forward to. So whether that be a pretty Bible, a new journal, Bible highlighters, your favorite pens, a fresh worship playlist, lighting a candle, etc. - be intentional. Make your time with Jesus something you look forward to.
🤎 7. USE TOOLS/APPS.
Flip through translations, use apps to help you dive deeper and understand the Scriptures and context! Some of my favorites apps are the Bible app by YouVersion, the Blue Letter Bible and Enduring Word. Bible translations I flip between are NIV, NLT, AMPC, ESV & TPT.
🤎 8. INVOLVE FRIENDS + COMMUNITY.
Accountability is everything! Grow closer to God with other people, and watch your life flourish. Join a Bible study group at your local church, or if you have a long distance bestie, start a Bible reading plan together, and set a time to talk about it every week. (I live in AZ, and one of my BFFs lives in GA–we have a three hour time difference and still make this work! 10/10 recommend.) If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” -Proverbs 27:17
I’m so proud of you for choosing to make Jesus a priority. Remember: progress > perfection. Embrace God’s grace & run your race. Fall in love with God’s Word, and let Him meet you exactly where you’re at.
